Steven’s Hope for Children, Inc.
gets Non-Profit Status!
Now the work begins!
Steven’s Hope for Children, Inc., has announce its receipt of 501( c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service effective August 21, 2002. Incorporated in 2001, Steven’s Hope will be based in Upland, CA, and working to assist seriously ill children and their families while receiving treatment for life threatening conditions.
“We are really pleased that we finally received our non-profit status,” said Sandy Cappelli, Vice-President and co-founder of Stevens Hope. “It took longer than we expected, but now we can focus on our real purpose of helping the children. And our work has only begun. There are numerous people that have been helping get Steven’s Hope off the ground and now we need them more than ever.”
Sandra and her husband Tony, who is President and the other co-founder of Steven’s Hope began the process of starting the organization almost a year after the loss of their son Steven, who was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart and other complications in the fifth month of pregnancy. “It’s ironic that two years after hearing about Steven’s fatal diagnosis, he is given life again with this charity. We have been blessed with a lot of support from our family and friends, and now we want to help some others who may not have had all the blessings that we had when we were going through our traumatic times.”
“We wanted to do something to better the lives of children and their families and we believe Loma Linda University Medical Center would be the perfect place to start. There is so much good that is being done there but there just isn’t enough help to go around,” said Sandy Cappelli. “We expect that Steven’s Hope will be able to reach and enrich a few more children’s lives.”
