Housing for Hope
Families that have to travel from out of
the immediate area of a treating hospital are often times presented with a large
problem:
“Where
do we stay now that our child is out of the hospital,
but we can’t go home because we are required
to be near the hospital for critical outpatient
treatment?”
For some, it may be a motel room, or trying
to stay in another family’s house. However,
these situations don’t allow parents, the
sick child and the rest of the family the ability
to give each other the support that only a home” can give. More importantly, not many families
can afford to maintain two households.
Steven’s Hope for Children maintains
three two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments just
minutes away from Loma Linda University Medical
Center and Children’s Hospital. Each unit is a fully furnished and decorated
two-bedroom apartment with phone, cable TV and
indoor laundry facilities. Every
effort has been made to make these apartments as “home-like” as possible. It is here that the family and the child
can recuperate and rehabilitate
from the serious illness or injury.
